Chess School in Sosnivka

At the end of 2013 with the support of the All-Ukrainian Charity Foundation “Chess for Children” the chess club was opened at the House of Youth Education in Sosnivka. The institution was equipped with a classroom for chess lessons with the necessary equipment.
The House of Youth Education in Sosnivka (director – Stepan Sluka) is located in the mining town Sosnivka of Lviv region with the population of about 15000 inhabitants. There are three secondary schools with an enrollment of approximately 2000 children in the town. The House of Youth Education is an extracurricular institution in the education system. There are groups for extracurricular activities: 18 clubs with 460 children aged from 3 to 18 years old are operating in the institution. The team consists of 12 teaching staff.
As of 2023, 39 children are studying in the chess club.
The educational and training process takes place in accordance with the approved schedule in 3 study groups, including 1 group of initial training for the first year of study, 1 group of initial training for the second year of study, and 1 group of preliminary basic training. The average duration of classes in groups of all age categories is 120 minutes. On average, each group practises 2-3 times a week. The head and coach of the chess club is Candidate for Master of Sports Kutyra Myroslav.
During 2020-2023, 5 students of the club fulfilled the norm of the first rank, 9 chess players got norms of the second rank.
The best students of the club are Kipen Svyatoslav (born in 2013, 1st rank), Tyurin Rostislav (born in 2010, 1st rank), Zanko Rostislav (born in 2009, 2nd rank), Dmytro Makovets (born in 2010, 3rd rank), Honor Evgenia (born in 2012, 4th rank), Stanislav Siratsky (born in 2017, 4th rank).
During the period of 2020-2023, the club held 44 events, in which more than 100 young chess players took part.
In the first quarter of 2023, the chess club of the House of Youth Education in Sosnivka held 1 chess event in online format, in which 39 children took part. Students of the club take part in international, all-Ukrainian, regional and local chess tournaments.
