Chess club “Brigantyna”

The chess club “Brigantyna” (means Brigantine in Ukrainian) has been working in the city of Kyiv for more than 10 years. The club offers not only intensive chess lessons, but also many fun and active events. The club’s chess players are considered real tourists, as the club organizes camps every summer, where children from different parts of the country come together to share their chess skills and experience. They also have the opportunity to participate in various recreational and sports activities.
The head of the club is Oleksandr Rybchenko, who holds the title of Candidate for Sports Master (CM) and is an experienced chess coach.
As of 2023, more than 50 children are studying in the chess club.
The educational and training process takes place in accordance with the approved schedule in 3 study groups. The average duration of classes in groups is 120 minutes. The head and coach of the chess club is Candidate for Sports Master Oleksandr Rybchenko. Candidate for Sports Master Ihor Shepelev also takes part in the educational process. The head of the club not only develops chess skills in students, but also sets the goal of helping students develop their potential in various aspects of life. His work includes organizing camps, trips and other activities that help children develop communication, cooperation, leadership and independence skills. These activities help raise the general level of students, enhancing their physical and emotional readiness, and ensuring comprehensive and harmonious development.
During 2020-2023, 8 students of the club fulfilled the norm of the first category. The best students of the club are Alisa Yablonska (born in 2007, 1st grade), Iryna Savchenko (born in 2012, 1st grade), Lyakh Artem (born in 2015, 2nd grade), Tymofiy Pyanov (2009 born, 1st rank), Sofia Kucher (born in 2007, 1st rank), Roman Shulzhenko (born in 2015, 2nd rank), David Bobrov (born in 2014, 2nd rank).
Students of the club take part in international, all-Ukrainian, regional and local chess tournaments.
