The Sozonov Award for 2024 was provided in two age categories: 10-13 years and 14-16 years. The application submission period for the Award named after Evgeniy Sozonov was completed on December 17.
In 2024 the Chess for Children Foundation received 26 applications from young chess players from different parts of Ukraine. 1 more application was submitted after the deadline and therefore was not considered

Age category from 10 to 13 years:
Winner: Rudenko Taras (Poltava)

Runners-up:

Svitenko Solomiia (Horodok, Lviv region)
Age category from 14 to 16 years:
Winner: Dehtiarov Roman (Kharkiv)

Runners-up:
Lyakh Vasyl (Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region)
Trofimova Evelina (Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk region/ Ivano-Frankivsk)
he 2024 award amounts are the following:
The winner in the age category from 10 to 13 years– 15 000 hryvnias;
The winner in the age category from 14 to 16 years– 15 000 hryvnias;
Two runners-up in the age category from 10 to 13 years– 3000 hryvnias each
Two runners-up in the age category from 14 to 16 years– 3000 hryvnias each.

Every year, selecting the winners and runners-up is a challenging task, as all participants exhibit remarkable motivation, incredible chess potential, and excellent academic performance. The Sozonov Award winners and runners-up are chosen using a balanced system that considers not only the chess achievements but also their academic accomplishments and achievements in other areas.
We encourage participants to continue applying in future years. This allows us to track their progress and acknowledge the efforts they invest in achieving their goals.
Award named after Evgeniy Sozonov is a private national annual award. It was established by Olena Boytsun in 2013 to support talented children aged between 10 to 16 years old, who show good results in both chess and school studies. Since 2019, the Sozonov Award has been provided in two age categories: from 10 to 13 years (inclusive) and from 14 to 16 years (inclusive). For 2024, the Award was presented for the tenth time.
